Our Story and Mission
In April 2024, Meyer passed away unexpectedly at just 20 months old. Meyer touches our lives every day and continues to guide everything we do. Their compassion, love, and joyful spirit shape our lives—and through Meyer & Friends, we hope to extend that same compassion and care to others navigating grief.
We created Meyer & Friends to honor Meyer and provide meaningful support to parents, caregivers, families, and individuals navigating grief. We aim to build accessible, compassionate resources that help people cope with loss, find community, and begin the healing process.
Before we created Meyer & Friends, we started Colorful Bunch, a children's clothing brand inspired by Meyer’s vibrant spirit. We poured so much of what we love about Meyer into that brand—their playfulness, their brightness, their spark. But while Colorful Bunch is a joyful celebration of childhood, it hasn’t always felt like the right space to talk openly about Meyer or share more of their story.
That’s part of what makes Meyer & Friends different—and necessary. We want more people to be inspired by Meyer not just through what we create, but by truly knowing who Meyer is. We want to create a space where we can speak honestly about our experience, help others through their own grief, and keep Meyer’s spirit actively present in that process.
We’re trying to approach all of this as authentically as we can. We know this will evolve, and we want to share openly along the way. The projects we're starting with are just the beginning. We hope to build trust and community by updating supporters as we go, letting people into the process and making them part of the journey with us.
Our Initial Projects
-
Books on Grief:
- Thoughtfully illustrated children's books designed to help families communicate openly and lovingly about grief.
- Adult-focused books offering comfort, personal narratives, and practical guidance on navigating loss and the complexities of grief.
-
Creative Writing and Expression:
Grief-focused writing prompts delivered regularly via email or through our website, providing a private, supportive way to process complex emotions creatively.
-
Resource Library:
A curated online library of carefully selected articles, podcasts, videos, and books that offer diverse perspectives and compassionate guidance for those grieving.
-
Personalized Support and Coaching:
Offering direct, one-on-one consultation and coaching to individuals and families experiencing child loss. Drawing on our own experience, we'll help families navigate the immediate complexities, find therapists, and access essential resources during those difficult early stages of grief.
-
Community Support:
Building online communities on trusted platforms where individuals can connect safely, share their experiences, and find ongoing peer support.
-
Collaboration and Sustainability:
Collaborations such as special product collections (for example, the "Lilac Collection" with Colorful Bunch) will directly fund our mission and help ensure sustainability over time.
Future Vision
Our long-term goal is ambitious and deeply personal: we aspire to provide free or low-cost grief support to all families, parents, caregivers, and individuals who need it. This includes counseling, creative therapy, community groups, and practical, immediate guidance for navigating the many difficult decisions and experiences following a significant loss.
We also hope to offer direct, human connection through one-on-one support—helping families walk through the early stages of grief, step by step, in ways that online resources alone can’t always provide.
How You Can Help
We invite you to help bring this vision to life. Your support—through donations, sharing our story, or simply helping spread the word—can help us immediately begin offering personalized guidance and resources directly to families and individuals experiencing the first stages of grief. Every contribution brings comfort and clarity during an unimaginably challenging time.
Together, we can honor Meyer by creating a compassionate community where no one must face grief alone.
With deep gratitude,
Meyer, Imogen, Lauren, and Rob
